.Thank you for your submission. The STP management role is handled within the HMC hardware, and will continue to see upgrades based on user feedback.

After much analysis, we are afraid that the dangers associated with allocating management control over STP to operating systems is not worth the risk. When you consider that an STP CTN may may involve not only multiple operating systems, but also multiple Sysplexes, this becomes more clear.
In recent releases we have significantly improved the HMC interface to make it far more informative and robust. We believe that this is important to both the integrity and security of our user environments.

This request has been pending for a long time. With z14, IBM introduced a much improved interface for managing STP configuration via the HMC. I know this does not address all of the concerns mentioned in this request. Have the needs of the customers changed?
