It's apparently been two years since this was "in plan for a future release", and 5 years since the suggestion was made. Do you know when that release will be? Because we'll soon be losing our mainframe-alerting emails as secure-SMTP will be the only option allowed here shortly. I can't see that it's been incorporated in the z17 HMC code (from reading manuals--we'll be getting z17s next year).
If this has been tossed aside, what exactly is the (hopefully free) alternative you expect your customers to use instead of emails for mainframe hardware events? Just hope the mainframe is healthy enough to contact IBM and open an IBM ticket?

As this is not really a feature enhancement request, this is a real security concern as without TLS and authentication support (as described here https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc4954). We really lacking from this and looking forward to get that handled by IBM with the appropriate priority.

Yes, it's for the Monitor System Events. Those events are sent by e-mail. Currently it only supports insecure SMTP. We would like Secure SMTP support added.
