IODF report in CSV format

Our customer encountered data integrity problem for the user catalogs and the DASD datasets in the data warehouse system because a lot of USBs were SHARED=NO. Then it could not update the databases for a few weeks.

So, our customer strongly requests to update HCD from the view of fail safe when they defined IODF unexpectedly.

They could not detected with the COMPERE report. It's hard to see.


Our customer would like to get the report in CSV format and compare in PC. They can easily compare the new and old CSV files downloaded.

    Hello Teruaki,

    thank you for sharing your experiences with HCD with us.
    We understand that a CSV report would be helpful, nevertheless we will reject the requirement.


    Reasons for rejection:

    HCD offers several possibilities to compare two IODF

    1. you may already print the report in XML output format.
    This possibility can be done via an JCL statement

    2. HCD offers many compare reports to show the differences between two IODFs.
    The differences regarding device features are shown in the [OS Device Compare Report]

    3. HCM (Hardware Configuration Manager) is a PC-based client/server interface to HCD.
    HCM offers the same reports as HCD. Additionally the text reports can be printed in text, XML and CSV report format.
