Reinstate the Servepac Dialogs for product upgrade and installation

This is from a conversation between myself and other IBM tech's.

My main objective is in hoping that someday, my complaint about the removal of ServerPac Dialogs will touch the right ears.

: IBM is not removing those traditional interfaces nor forcing a single‑option GUI path.

This is exactly what they did with z/OSMF, which concerns me that they will continue this path with other software. As I said previously,

I understand the need for another method; to try and attract younger SP’s. What I don’t understand is why take away options that a 30 year system programmer like myself

has been using all this time. I don’t like z/OSMF and I don’t like the trend of IBM trying force everyone to use a GUI interface for mainframe work.

I’m not a GUI fan. I chose mainframe 30 years because I didn’t like GUI.

Yes, add options. I am a big fan of options. Maybe the younger system programmers will like the newer trend.

ServerPac Dialogs is a tried and true method of installing software and it works great.

I’m not trying to get IBM to stop with the focus on younger SP’s.

Just don’t force me to use something I don’t like and / or don’t want.

I know that z/OSMF may not be your area. Just hoping to get my words passed to those that make the decisions.

Continuing conversaton.....

I really appreciate the time you’ve put into responding to my questions and concerns.

This decision was and is a big disappointment to me in IBM. I’m sure those that make the decisions such as this

don’t really care, because I was not offered an opportunity to express my opinion prior to this change being made.

Customers pay IBM so much money that they should be willing to provide what we want.

I still hope this message gets to the ears of those that make the decisions.

Again, I really appreciate your effort.

I will not trouble you with this matter again.

I thank you for the explanation.

Idea priority High

IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it will not be implemented at this time, and it is unlikely to be given high enough priority to be placed into the product plan in the near future.
