To capture the SC's LOCK SET NAME from the DCOLLECT

Today, DCOLLECT does not provide the lock structure information, which limits our ability to validate the definitions between the Current SCDS and the New SCDS.

The below records are being generated from the DCOLLECT and used for the comparison between the New SCDS and the current ACDS before SMS activation

RECORD=DC - DATA CLASSES
RECORD=SC - STORAGE CLASSES
RECORD=MC - MANAGEMENT CLASSES
RECORD=SG - STORAGE GROUPS
RECORD=BC - BASE CONFIGURATION PRINTED ONLY FOR ACDS
RECORD=VL - STORAGE GROUP VOLUMES
RECORD=AG - AGGREGATE GROUPS
RECORD=LB - OAM LIBRARIES
RECORD=DR - OAM DRIVES
RECORD=AI - ACS ACCOUNTING
RECORD=CN - CACHE NAMES

Also, through the SC record we are able to see the CACHE structure name but we are not able to see the Lock structure.

When we display the Storage Class in ISMF panel, we are able to see both Cache and Lock structures, why is that not getting captured in DCOLLECT.

Adding lock structure name capture would allow us to compare lock structure definitions between the current SCDS and the new SCDS and identify any differences before SMS activation, so we can proactively address unexpected changes and reduce activation risk.

    Hi Team,

    We are interested in knowing more about the z/OSMF Storage Plugin (available starting from the z/OS 3.2 release), where can we find more details.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Hi,

    Thank you for raising this request and for the detailed inputs shared so far.

    As part of our evaluation, we understand the requirement around supporting SCDS comparison and the associated need for Lock Structure information. While we are assessing a potential enhancement to DCOLLECT (updating the existing SC record to include this information), we wanted to better understand your current approach.

    We would like to check if you are aware of the SCDS comparison capability available through the z/OSMF Storage Plugin (available starting from the z/OS 3.2 release), and whether this is something you might consider leveraging for your comparison needs.

    Your feedback will help us determine whether the proposed DCOLLECT enhancement is still required and how best to prioritize it.

    Looking forward to your thoughts.

    Warm regards,
    ISMF Dev
