This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

JR, I'm closing this RFE based on the 2/12/21 meeting. As always, feel free to reach out to Brian Valentine if you have any further questions.
JR, I would like to close this RFE out based on the meeting with you, Brian Valentine and Brent Boisvert on 2/12/21 discussing the CoD Flexible Record Interface. Please let us know if you have any objection to closing this RFE. Feel free to reach out to Brian Valentine if you have any future questions on the CoD Flexible Record Interface.
Brian Valentine has requested a meeting with the client to explain the APIs. Here is the comparison tech doc. https://www-01.ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/lib03011.nsf/pages/zCoDAPIComparison
Please let us know if you would like Brian Valentine to set up a meeting to walk through this scenario and discuss the new API. Thanks
Development does not recommend changing this API.
This API was introduced during the time when there could only be one CBU record on the system. With the introduction of the z10, the temporary capacity record architecture was changed to allow multiple CBU records on a system at the same time. This API was then replaced with the record API HWI_ACTDATE. The HWI_CBUACTDT API has been kept for backwards compatibility.
The preferred way for the customer to get this information is to use the HWI_ACTDATE property, which checks the activation date of a specific record.
The return result of the HWI_CBUACTDT is undefined when the record is not active. The customer should not be using this date to determine whether or not the CBU record is active or not. Instead, they should be using the HWI_CBUACTIVE, or HWI_ACTSTAT (preferred) to determine the status of the record, and then, if the record is active, only then use the HWI_CBUACTDT to check the date of the activation.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Z and LinuxONE Systems Hardware
Product - Z and LinuxONE Systems Hardware
Component - HMC/Support Element (SE)
Operating system - IBM z/OS
Source - None
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - z Systems Software
Product - z/OS
Component - BCP_BCPii
Operating system - IBM z/OS
Source - None
This is a firmware issue that we will discuss with the appropriate team.
