Generic Tracker Facility: GTZPRINT Utility Should Generate CSV Content

Introduced with z/OS 2.1, the Generic Tracker Facility provides a utility program, GTZPRINT, which formats and reports tracking facility and migration aid information. Based upon selection and exclusion criteria defined in SYS1.PARMLIB, the generic tracker facilty can produce voluminous content in exceeding a million lines of records. As such, GTZPRINT simply formats the tracking data in a serial fashion consisting of instances or 'events' of nine lines of tracked data separated by a line of 70 dashes.

GTZPRINT needs the added capability to generate comma separated/delimited value (CSV) files to aid in data reduction and post-processing analysis (e.g. frequency analysis) of the captured tracking data findings by tools such as IBM Symphony, IBM SPSS, Microsoft EXCEL, and SAS.

IBM provides the GTZQUERY service which for example allows to write a simple extraction program which can save the retrieved data in any desired form. This is typically a task for a user, ISV, or other third party product providers, but IBM could provide a simple, working sample of such an extraction program.
