Regular expression $ matching needs improvement

The string ISPF passes to the regular expression matcher appears to include trailing blanks, even when those trailing blanks are not logically there. ie. the blanks are there as an artifact of the editor (VB datasets) or would not generally be there if the dataset content were present in a Unix file (FB datasets).

Trailing blanks within the bounds should therefore be removed before matching so that $ will work as expected.

A customer notes:
I'll suggest a variant (improvement?) that if PRESERVE ON blanks be removed only following the PRESERVE width (available in a macro as "SAVE_LENGTH line-number"), to respect blanks present in the original input data.
