Performance improvement for FTPs MVSPUT

When the FTP subcommand MVSPUT (introduced with z/os v2r1) is used then for each member transmitted a new data connection is established. For a non-encrypted connection, this is no problem, but for an encrypted connection each of those data connections has to go through encryption negotiation. When sending dozens or hundreds of members this becomes painfully slow. Why not reuse the initial data connection to send each and every member. This would dramatically save on the time necessary to transmit a PDS. Given that both ends of the connection are MVS then the FTP code could be enhanced to detect that an MVSPUT is being processed and handle it this way.

z/OS V2R2 delivered a function called TLS session reuse that should reduce the impact of the problem raised by this RFE. This RFE will be closed.
