SYSLOGD - MTUDISCOVERY option

We'd like SYSLOGD on z/OS to use MTUDiscovery option or provide a way to set max packet size..We are seeing a lot of outbound fragmentation because of SYLOGD sending logs to another server.

From PMR:

The MTUPATHDISCOVERY option does not exist for UDP.
Since there is no handshake involved in UDP protocol the MTU size is not agreed upon by both ends. There really is no way to limit the
MTU size just for UDP datagrams. Depending on the amount of data sent it will be fragmented based on the real mTU size of the adapter. The application using the UDP doing the send can modify the udp send buffer size by issuing a setsockopt with option so_sndbuf and lowering the buffer size. This will allow the application to only send upto the set buffer size and the resulting send to through the adapter should not be frgmented.

This RFE would be addressed by DeveloperWorks RFE 110035 "Update SYSLOGD to support sending data via TCP" ( http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewChangeRequest&CR_ID=110035 ), if implemented. Please vote on that RFE. This RFE will be closed.

    Product - z/OS Communications Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
