Requesting timestamp to be 'restored' to original for sym links when tar or pax is used to 'unzip' an archive file.

Hello USS Development team,

As we prepare to migrate HFS user file systems
to zFS I am testing back out scenarios and have observed that both the
IBM provided migration utility (BPXWH2Z) and back out options I have
tested (tar and pax to copy new zFS data back to an HFS) appear to
recreate symbolic links with a current (versus original) link
timestamp. I opened SR 68324,082,000 to ask if there are any options to restore symbolic links via tar or pax with the original timestamps. The IBM SR response indicated that there are currently no options to restore symbolic links with original time stamps using tar or pax and also recommended that I open an RFE to request to have this functionality provided for z/OS USS tar and pax commands. Please consider this request for enhanced tar and pax functionality. Also consider that adding a new switch (-{newchar(s)} for tar and pax to enable this function would likely be preferred versus changing the base functionality of tar and pax so as not to impact any current use cases in place that might rely on tar and pax restores creating links with 'current versus original' time stamps that are already in place for customers today. If this is not clear then please feel free to call or email with further questions.

Thank you.
