This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We need a way to identify all DFSORT job steps using Y2x fields. We want to get away from using 2-digit years and the need to periodically update the Y2PAST/CENTURY/CENTWIN global options. For this we need to take an inventory of what is actually still using 2-digit years, but there are no easy ways to do that now.
There is currently the ICE168I message, but that isn't written as a WTO, thus doesn't show up in SYSLOG.
Options that could work for us:
1) Make ICE168I a WTO. Maybe have a global option to make this behave as-is, or to be a WTO.
2) Create a new WTO like ICE168I. Again, maybe have a global option to indicate whether this WTO is written or not, so customers who aren't interested don't have to deal with the new WTO.
3) Include a field in the SMF type 16 record that indicates use of Y2x fields.

Derek,
Thanks for submitting the request for enhancement. We have added this requirement on to the list of candidates for future enhancements to DFSORT, but it's a long list, and all of the items have to be prioritized against each other. Suggestions are always welcome, but we can't discuss specifics or make any promises.
