z/OS Kerberos support for SPNEGO mechanism (1 3 6 1 5 5 2)

Our software product Virtel runs as a Web server on z/OS to access Legacy applications. Many of our customers have asked us to provide Kerberos support.

We have tried to do this through the IBM z/OS Kerberos server, and this works fine for standard Kerberos v5 tokens, but not for tokens that are generated by Web browsers (IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox). We have discovered that IBM z/OS Kerberos does not support the SPNEGO security mechanisms. SPNEGO is the only possible mechanism when connecting from a Web browser under Windows.

The IBM Kerberos server should support the SPNEGO mechanism, since it has become a common standard for all Windows users.
