When the QEDIT assembler service is invoked to free a CIB, an exclusive ENQ on SYSIEFSD Q10 is obtained to serialize the CSCB chain. While holding the ENQ, a SPOST is issued to ensure that all in progress POSTS to the address space have completed before freeing the CIB. SPOST is actually a PURGEDQ which issues a STATUS macro to wait for all active SRBs in the address space to complete. SRBs in the address space can be unrelated to POST processing. A hang in ending the SRBs will cause contention on the SYSIEFSD Q10 resource and hung command processing across the entire system. CANCEL and FORCE processing requires SYSIEFSD Q10, so the holder of the ENQ cannot be FORCED. A method to avoid the extended ENQ on SYSIEFSD Q10 is required.
