DFSMSsms ACS provide &OLDNAME variable during ACSENVIR=RENAME in MGMTCLAS

During SMS &ACSENVIR='RENAME' processing there is currently no ability in the MGMTCLAS routine to check what the original dataset name is, you only have the newname in the &DSN variable. This means that inappropriate renames cannot be prevented with an EXIT statement, for example where a test dataset is renamed to a production dataset name. This can result in a production dataset being in the incorrect STORGRP where it may not have the correct service in terms of performance, backup and migration.

Ron - fair point that &DSN or &OLDDSN may not be the only determining factors to distinguish Prod & Test data. I'm not quite sure what the 'DFP segment' means, is that the &DEF_MGMTCLAS type value from RACF for example? If that would be different to &MGMTCLAS that may be another means to compare if &MGMTCLAS was the 'old' original value and &DEF_MGMTCLAS was the 'new'.

Difficult thing as in the use case could be that different sites have different way of determine prod/test datasets. for instance, we use DFP segment for that. Than you would also need to no this (and other?) old values..

Although we have no need for this function at this time, the request does seem reasonable.
