Support insecure mode in the Web Enablement Toolkit for SSL connections

The curl program provides insecure mode that bypasses verification of certificates during an SSL connection and allows the connection to proceed. This is not ideal in a production environment but very useful during application development when self-signed certificates may be in use.

The z/OS Web Enablement Toolkit would benefit by the addition of an insecure mode that also bypassed verification and allowed SSL connections to proceed. Perhaps the addition of a new HWTH_OPT_SSLKEYTYPE called HWTH_SSLKEYTYPE_INSECURE that directs the connection to bypass verification could be implemented.

OK, thanks. I'll assume that this brief response means that IBM is unlikely to ever implement an insecure mode.

So, how do we use the WET when connecting to a server that presents a self-signed certificate and no CA is available?

The HTTP/HTTPS Enabler portion of the z/OS client web enablement toolkit uses a zero trust approach to security.
