This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

I have a sequence of commands, such as RACDCERT GENCERT... RACDCERT LIST cert. If the GENCERT fails, the list cert works, and I get RC = 0 from the jobstep.
I have to have multiple jobsteps one for he RACDCERT GENCERT and another with RACDCERT LIST.
Many IBM products create definitions in one job step... and you do not know if any command failed unless you scan the output.
To implement this you just need to save the maximum return code seen within a control block, and have a new TSO command MAXRC which looks up this return code, and returns with the return code.
My code would be
//SYSIN DD *
RACDCERT GENCERT
RACDCERT LIST
MAXRC
/*

One method (although you are likely already aware)...
Rexx program: RCERT
//SYSIN DD *
RCERT
/*
---------------------------
/* rexx */
maxrc=0
RACDCERT GENCERT
if rc > maxrc then maxrc=rc
RACDCERT LIST
if rc > maxrc then maxrc=rc
exit maxrc
