Allow to offload records at SMF LOGSTREAM, with OPTIONS(ARCHIVE) for specific SID or allow with OPTIONS(DUMP) with offload and delete for a specific SID.

As we already know, that IFASMFDL SMF offload utility with OPTIONS (ARCHIVE) does not allow us to offload with specific to a SYSID when more than 1 LPAR are connected to the same Log Stream and at the same time on other hand with the OPTIONS (DUMP) it does allow to offload with SYSID, but it does not allow to offload with a delete of records from the Log Steam.

Considering our environment setup, we are forced to create individual Log Stream per LPAR to have the SMF records offloaded with delete by using OPTION (ARCHIVE). This works completely fine as we expected but resulting with multiple Log Stream created.

Having said with the fact, we would like to propose a feature enhancement for the SMF Log Stream component , say either any one of the below,

1. If with OPTION (ARCHIVE) - We could have options to offload specific to a particular SID, this could result for use of a single Log Steam across the plex.

2. If with OPTION (DUMP) - An offload with Delete could be a better feature to use.

In general using IFASMFDL and then IFASMFDP is a good idea as proposed by IBM, but given at our customer's environment we are collecting wide rage of SMF records, where we have situations for about an hour for a single LPAR we are collecting records pertaining dataset size of about 35000 CYL's.

In our production PLEX currently we have 4 LPAR's which will be running with SMF Log Stream, so the amount of records estimated for 1 hour of SMF records to be offloaded would be huge from the storage point of view when used a single Dataset for all the SID's.

This was the reason why we wanted to ask for an feature enhancement.
