This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

an IBM Case was recently created to describe a problem encountered by RACF administrator, who had recently converted the RACF password pattern to include lower case characters. The problem encountered they discovered was that the ISPF TSO Command did not always function consistently across all ISPF panels for issuing the TSO ALU userid PASSWORD(passwd2) command and certainly did not always function like the ISPF Command Shell, which was expected. Using the TSO ISPF command, the ALU userid PASSWORD(passwd2) command many times produced capital letters when lower case was desired and again expected; whereas the ISPF Command Shell always produced the upper or lower case characters as needed. The case response was that all ISPF panels do not consistently deliver the command in mixed case, and ask IBM if they would consider consistency between the two relate IPSF entities.
I am, therefore, submitting a request to make the make the ISPF TSO Command act always the same as the ISPF Command Shell. I believe this is what ISPF customers expect.

While I would love to see this, given that there are over 3,800 members in the SISPPENU library it would take a lot of time and attention to detail to verify that changing the attribute character for zcmd to caps(off) would not adversely impact other input fields on the panels. And that would only address the IBM products in the SISPPENU library.
Unless IBM could come up with a way to 'know' the input field is the zcmd field and to deal with it differently - then they could do it in one place in the code (maybe?)
