In our shop only storage guys are allowed to initialize a volume.
Meaning having required access to facility class STGADMIN.ICK.INIT/REFORMAT/etc.
So whenever a sysprog want to reformat or init a specific named range of volumes named ie ABC%%% the sysprog need to join forces or call in a person from storage to assist.
We ask for an option of a generic profile like STGADMIN.ICK.INIT.ABC%%% or STGADMIN.ICK.REFORMAT.ABC%%% or a extra profile where the volume list can be added in case the client want to.
Please do not refer to usage facility class named DASDVOL as this is a complete different discussion.
Having such an option would remove audit remarks we have from external auditors, so i expect same issue for other clients.

Hi - very useful option. System volumes will very often have a certain naming convention, that can fall within such a standard. Regards, Gert
