Native REST API for Administration and Reporting against RACF Databases

A native REST API for administration and reporting against RACF would be extremely helpful for automation and product flexibility.

Example functions would be CRUD against user ID's/OMVS segments, CRUD for dataset/resource rules, and modifying group connects.

An example input for creating a user might be:

{

  “id”:”IBMUSER”,

  “operation”:”create”,

 “name”:”IBM User Test”,

 “group_connects”:[“IZUGROUP”,”DEFLTGRP”,”ALMUSR”],

  “group_special_connects”:[“VSPECIAL”],

  “tso_acct”:”000002341”,

  “omvs”: {

      “homedir”:”/u/ibmuser”,

      “uid”:”autouid”,

      “pgm”:”/bin/sh”

  },

  “clauth”: [“DIGTCERT”,”FACILITY”],

  "instdata": "xyz",

  …

}

(That is a generic and not exhaustive list)

 The idea would be that we’re not holding a codebase that translates those fields into commands, it’s just something that RACF handles natively once its API is set up from a network/stc/”who can use” perspective.

    Thank you for submitting this Idea. Are you aware of the R_SecMgtOper (IRRSMO00) callable service which provides an XML interface. Additionally, the pyRACF library provides a Python interface into RACF. Does these services satisfy your Idea?
    The documentation for IRRSMO00 can be found at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/3.1.0?topic=operations-function
    pyRACF is available on GitHub: https://github.com/ambitus/pyracf
