SNA network mapping tool

As a z/OS network systems programmer I am sometimes involved in new projects where I have only minimal info regarding design of the customer's network. If I want to understand it then I need to manually scan the network and create appropriate network diagram ( both Subarea and APPN ). It might be worth for many network people to have a tool that would help us to gain some basic info regarding the network with possibility to create its diagram. Something like a Solarwinds Network Topology Mapper - network scanning wizard. Additional feature of the tool might capability to take a snapshot of the system's communications server configuration that might be worth in fixing network related issues. It is much faster to investigate issues once you know that something was running in past however something has changed and suddenly it stopped working.

A full solution to this requirement would be better addressed by a network management vendor. As far as native z/OS capabilities, it should be noted that you can accomplish much of this network discovery via judicious use of DISPLAY TOPO commands.
