CLONE the master catalog to a alternate name, with no internal updates.

We would like the ability to STAGE changes for up coming IPLS ( days, sometimes weeks in advance). Of the 3 components   RESVOL, PARMLIB  and Master Catalog... only the Master Catalog is not able to be cloned ...aka staged  for a future IPL.   Currently DSS restore has restrictions   and IDCAMS repro updates internal pointers, both of which bring to light  the inability to stage the master catalog.

    This idea would require support from the CATALOG team to enable such actions because the master catalog is a special kind of data set that requires interfaces to perform actions upon it. It would be better served as a CATALOG item which they enhance to allow this functionality.. Only then can DFSMSdss, invoke those utilities/functionaility they make available. If you feel that this requirement is needed, please resubmit the request under Catalog.
