LE AMODE 31/64 interoperability environment: retain original abend of secondary enclave

In our new application release we use the new capability to run AMODE 31 programs and AMODE 64 programs together in an application in the same address space. First we start a Java 17 JVM 64-bit environment via JZOS to run our Java-Framework that calls COBOL-Modules. We want to extend existing COBOL-Batchjobsteps with the capability to call in Java implemented business functions.
If an abend occurs in COBOL in this scenario, this original abend is overlaid with the standard abend U4094-1024.
This means to us that the COBOL batch job step extended with Java is no longer backward compatible, as the original abend does not appear in the JCL in order to react to it. In addition the COBOL abend is not more directly apparent for application controllers and the OPC/TWS handling when the job aborts.

When designing the LE AMODE 31/64 interoperability support, retaining the original abend of secondary enclave was noted as a design restriction with our sponsor users. Lifting this restriction, may be something that could be implemented and delivered in 3-5 years.
