If a customer has a large number of VRS definitions he can use the VRSEL report to identify "Unused VRS Definitions" at the end of the report.
I have successfully converted a customer with approximate 13.0000 RDS definitions to approximate 13.000 defaults table entries. It is not easy to manage this table but there is no DFSMSrmm utility available for help to find out unused defaults table entries.
In my point of few we should store the matching defaults table entry in the data set records as well as we store the matching VRS definition so that a customer can create a report to show the unused defaults table entries.
Since the implementation is certainly very extensive and takes some time, I could imagine that a new program would offer an interim solution. This program takes the default table entries and checks if files exist for that specified defaults table entry.
