SMF Python API

I know there's a Python API for SMF but it doesn't run on z/OS. I need a Python package for extracting SMF records directly on z/OS, as that's where my application runs. It should be free and open source, just like RACFu.

The reason it's important that it is open source is so customers can help fix bugs and improve the code.

This API would allow monitoring tools to easily be made no matter the skill level of the programmer.

Is this a request for a Python "wrapper" which invokes the IFASMFDL or IFASMFDP dump utilities? I see mention of "monitoring?, which would be outside the scope of the requested Python interface. Sorry for the double-tag, but unsure which emails you monitor.

Having something we can run on-platform is more ideal because it gives us the opportunity to replace commercial tooling that requires specialized and hard-to-find skills in favor of things that people who have to assume roles that require analysis of instrumentation data in the future might be familiar with.
