When generating an RPTEXT report in DFRMM, tapes may appear twice due to simultaneous delete and insert operations on the Control Dataset (CDS), and a design change is proposed to ensure consistent data

We are creating an RPTEXT report in DFRMM. It can happen that a tape is listed twice in the report output if the tape previously had the status "scratch" and is now being written by a batch job during the report generation. According to information from IBM support, this can occur if a delete and an insert operation are performed on the Control Dataset (CDS) simultaneously within the same second. From our perspective as a customer, this results in inconsistent data in the DFRMM RPTEXT output. A tape can only ever have one status and should only be assigned to one user or one job at a time. We had a case regarding this behavior and a lengthy discussion. IBM informed us that this behavior was implemented as designed in DFRMM. We therefore propose adjusting this behavior through a design change to ensure that the data in the RPTEXT report is displayed consistently in the future.
