IDS Enhancement for nonstandard source port

We need to a way when an inbound client syn is coming in with a non-standard source port (below 1024) to be able to detect that and take action.

    Rejecting this RFE based on a the discussion we had regarding the use if IP packet filters to fulfill this need.

    I want to be sure I understand what you are asking for here. Am I correct that you want an action taken when you receive an inbound SYN packet whose source (client) port is less than 1024? And if so, what type of actions do you want to be taken when such an event is detected? As you mentioned, you can define an IP packet filter for this type of behavior with a logging action. Does that not accomplish what you're looking for?
