This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Since there is an existing way to accomplish this capability, this RFE will be rejected.
Jose: This is an existing command (available on all supported releases), and the COUNT parameter can be used to specify an iteration count up to 2147483647. The 25 days is just an estimate based on a 1 mSec round-trip time. But of course, the actual round-trip time will vary based on your network connectivity and conditions. And yes, PA1 will terminate the outstanding PING if desired.
command you design:
tso ping xxxxxxx 2147483647 and pa1 to terminate.
ping xxxx is dns or ipaddress. 2147483647 is 25 days.
Please confirm correct.
do you know when this command will be available?
Jose, you should be able to terminate a long-running TSO ping command by pressing the Attention key (often labeled "PA1").
please also make command or which on keyboard to terminate the continuous ping. when we do it in dos command prompt we just do a cntrl c to end it.
regards jose isidro
yes this would be sufficient
regrd jose isidro
The TSO PING command has a COUNT parameter that supports a value range of 1 - 2147483647. If you issued the command with a COUNT value of 2147483647, and each ping iteration took 1 mSec, the command would run for about 25 days. Is that sufficient to address your need?
