CSSMTP text line too long in attached file

CSSMTP reject a mail with message "text line too long". the rejected mail has an attached file with a LRECL 1032 hence the error since CSSMTP enforce RFC2822 which limit the line length to 998 characters plus CRLF. There was not this problem with the old SMTP.
Our customer says that CSSMTP should not look into the attached file for this control and he gives as examples all the other mailers Lotus Notes, exchange etc..
