Enable access to input datasets for DSFS

Currently DSFS only supports output spool datasets. The addition of input spool datasets would be very helpful in providing a full user experience via the /dsfs/ sysout interface.

DSFS support for GDGs

It would be very useful if DSFS would also support GDGs. We already exploit DSFS with ssh transfer, but missing GDG support is a road-blocker.

DSFS createparm limitations

Currently dsadm createparm has following limitation:The user ID of the issuer of the command must match the HLQ (just the first qualifier) in order to be allowed to save creation parameters for the HLQ directory. We have many technical/application...

When using dsfs in a PDS the ls -al should display ISPF statistics or other info

When using ISPF the member display panel will display either ISPF statistics (if available) or load module information. The ls -al command when using /dsfs should present similar information when it is available. Since dsfs supports ISPF statistic...

Enhance DSFS to support Migrated z/OS Datasets

Ed Jaffe on the ibm-main listserv pointed out that using dsfs any DFSMShsm migrated data sets were not available. This is a critical oversight as DFSMShsm is still very heavily used. DSFS needs to be able to recognize data sets in a migrated state...

Improve DSFS Help messages for readability

Improve DSFS help message to be more readable. Examples: Current dsadm createparm -help IDFS00090I Usage: IDFZADM createparm -path <path name> [{-pdsmodel <sub-directory parameters> | -psmodel <sub-file parameters>}] [-level] [-h...

DSFS Improve IDFS00080I message

When in the shell, either via OMVS or ssh, entering dsadm by itself results in the IDFS00080I message. This message instructs the user to type in IDFZADM help or IDFZADM hep -topic. The user enter dsadm and not idfzadm and probably has no clue wha...

Enhance DSFS CreateParm to support masking for the path

The createparm path is currently a high-level-qualifier of one or more levels. It needs to be more granular such as hlq.*.ASM or hlq.*.EXEC as this makes more sense as all ASM would be FB 80 and EXEC would be either FB 80 or VB 255 depending on th...

DSFS create command to allocate new z/OS dataset

The use of the dsfs createparm or extattr to define a prototype for new datasets is not intuitive. Suggest creating a dsfs makeds command to allocate a new ps or pds using appropriate attributes on the command. There would be no need for prototype...
