Offline BER test on FICON channels

On IBM DS8K products we are able to perform an offline Bit ERror (BER) test to check a FICON link's quality while the path is offline but the cables are connected. My understanding is that this is accomplished by using idle characters being sent out on the link. Can FICON Express 16S+ support this function on z15?

    .While we will be unable to deliver this for z15 at this point, we will evaluate the feasibility of providing such functionality in a future release.
