New function related to the MVS SWAP command(dynamic device reconfiguration (DDR))

When a TS7700 tape cluster is requested to enter Service Mode, the SWAP command is a needful function. IBM invented the TS7700 Control Unit Initiated Reconfiguration (CUIR) functions years ago. The intention was to assist and automate as much as possible when a TS7700 is entering Service Mode - For planned service. But we miss the option to do a SWAP command for an allocated but not used device. In such a situation a 'User not found' message is returned and NO swap is initiated. Only two options then is to wait until the job completed(which can take hours) or to cancel the job. If above is being delivered IBM and their clients are closer to having a fully automated functionality when a Cluster is being fenced/enters service mode. Until above is solved I don't really see the real value of having the TS7700 CUIR.
