Consistent IFASMFDL behaviour for empty logstreams

Currently there are two possible outcomes when using IFASMFDL and specifying a time frame where no records can be found in the logstream, depending on whether the logstream has been written to. If there are no records in the specified time frame, ...

SMF Subtype reporting

z/OS 2.4 offers new way of reporting SMF subtypes. It provides a report on record type and subype. However, it would be nice, if this report would show how many record type and subtype records were produced per System. This functionality can be ac...

IFA849I ENVIRONMENT ERROR should be of type Error

In my opinion the message IFA849I ENVIRONMENT ERROR ... should be of type error. A job should end with RC 8 and not 4, because it is an error and not an information the utility IFASMFDL gives. So please change it to IFA849E and change the behavior...

IFASMFDL DUMP start date time window

While switching from SMF dataset mode to logstream mode, we noticed that IFASMFDP (dataset mode) behaves differently than IFASMFDL (logstream) wrt the date/time windows:- IFASMFDP allows to dump records from start date "-1"/time "xx:xx" up until e...

IFASMFDL RC=8 when error in LOGSTREAM

When there is an error when reading the LOGSTREAM, so that it is not safe that all requested data is present, the return code should be 8 instead of 4 because RC=4 indicate only a warning.RC=8 indicate an error. In our case we got a MSG 'IFA819I E...

SMF Type 30 Subtype 5 records contain last step condition code instead of End-of-job condition code

SMF Type 30 Subtype 5 (EOJ or end-of-job) records should contain the highest condition code of the job in the SMF5JCC field. The current condition code information is not representative of the entire job but only of the last step run in the job.

Allow to offload records at SMF LOGSTREAM, with OPTIONS(ARCHIVE) for specific SID or allow with OPTIONS(DUMP) with offload and delete for a specific SID.

As we already know, that IFASMFDL SMF offload utility with OPTIONS (ARCHIVE) does not allow us to offload with specific to a SYSID when more than 1 LPAR are connected to the same Log Stream and at the same time on other hand with the OPTIONS (DUMP...

Extracting SMF in a single job step with a single pass of data

If I want to dump multiple different timeframes of data into an smf dataset I have to do it in multiple steps and mod'ing onto the output dataset For example if I want Type14 records from 2200 on 1st Jan to 06:00 on 3rd Jan I would have to do this...

After zEDC Outage IFASMFDL ends with RC4 but dumps no data

If there is any Problem with dumping from a logstream, IFASMFDL should not end with RC4 but with RC8 or RC16 as soon as the data dumped from the stream is reduced due to the error.
