All error messages for shell tools should be complete and NOT require referencing a Messages and Codes manual

Receiving a message like this (example from DSFS dsadm command): IDFS00329E Could not set creation parameters, return code 126 reason code ED07621A. Is confusing and meaningless to the average OMVS shell user. They are not used to finding a messag...

zFS - Update catalog bits also when filesystem is mounted RO

The zFS attributes from the CATALOG will be updated only when the filesystem is mounted RDWR. Meaning when a cluster is allocated with 'DEFINE CLUSTER LINEAIR' (not with ZFS keyword). And afterwards always mounted RO, the catalog is never updated....

zfsadm shrink should provide a means to automatically specify -size without running aggrinfo or calculating from fsinfo

zfsadm shrink requires too much manual intervention to be useful. -size must be taken either from aggrinfo, or calculated from fsinfo, then manually added to the zfsadm shrink command. zfsadm shrink should provide a means to do this automatically ...

zfsadm shrink should provide means to mount R/O filesystem R/W, then switch back to R/O after zfsadm shrink completes

zfsadm shrink requires too much manual intervention to be useful. Forcing a user to manually remount the filesystem R/W, then remount it again as R/O is time-consuming and error prone. zfsadm shrink should provide a means to do this automatically....
