As z/VM RACF is not sharing with z/OS anymore we need a z/VM face on RACF, remove irrelevant CLASSes

As z/VM RACF is not sharing with z/OS anymore we need a z/VM face on RACF, remove irrelevant CLASSes. IBM no longer permits the sharing of RACF DB's with z/OS and z/VM. So why have irrelevant RACF classes visible in z/VM? It is confusing when scan...

Remove all references to JES on output of RACF commands on z/VM

I consider this an incorrout defect. My idea is to remove any references to JES and additional z/OS references that have no bearing on the z/VM product. It is distracting and confusing to me a VM sysprog. As RACF is pulling apart on z/VM from the ...

DIRMAINT EXTENT CONTROL statements need to check with RACFVM for authorization with SECLABEL Mandatory Access Control

We require DIRMAINT to respect RACF SECLABELS for DASD devices when working with MDISKs. Our directory and storage management is provided through DIRMAINT. DIRMAINT's EXTENT CONTROL is the single source of storage definitions. We need to have DIRM...

Increase CP areas to maximum supported size on VM installs

Historically, VM delivered a modest average size for most CP areas like ckpt, warmstart, and directory. Now that disk is no longer really constrained on most systems and VM management skills are increasingly rare, increasing the reserved areas to ...

Implement the existing, but not yet supported, TLStimeout parameter for IUCV IOCTL socket calls

When using IUCV IOCTL calls, in particular SIOCSECCLIENT and SIOCSECSERVER to secure an established socket connection, I have seen cases where the call sits indefinitely with no response or failure. Because the documented TLStimeout has not been i...

zVM with more logs - more verbose

System: zVM Actor: System Description: We have recently discovered that vswitch is discarding many packets when its buffer bursts, however, this has not been alarmed anywhere. We need the system to be able to send these and other network error mes...

Enhance applmsg/dmsmsg macro to not require a base register

The APPLMSG macro uses the DMSMSG macro which generates code that unnecessarily requires a base register. See attached macro expansion. The red instruction is the one that causes a base register to be required. The MVC is badly coded, there's no n...

DIRMAINT needs to do additional RACF commands when creating a new virtual machine

DIRMAINT needs to do additional RACF commands when creating a new virtual machine. This is useful in a RACF environment using sitewide SECLABELs for mandatory access control. The commands affected would be DIRM ADD. An additional operand of SECLAB...

By putting the checks for OPERATIONS into the same environment as SPECIAL, AUDITOR an/or ROAUDITOR, the attribute can be (un)assigned dynamically without requiring the user to log in/out to refresh its assigned rights.

Unless a guest that logged on with the OPERATIONS is logged off, it retains that attribute and those rights until it has been logged off. This is a security vulnerability as there is a difference between RACF's contents and reality. It would also b...
