Request to Add Full dynamic Activate support in SACF Lpar on Z14 and above

Reference case: TS003931886
When there are no requirements for a ZOS LPAR or ZVM LPAR, there is still a need to configure resources beyond coupling facility. The SACF Activation LPAR needs to be able to handle equivalent of the Dynamic Activate function in ZOS HCD . This customer installation decided to add a ZVM LPAR , This will require a another POR.
There is not yet enough support in ZVM for Multiple Subchannel sets.
Given the limits of ZVM HCD, It is preferable to use the SACF Activation function because it is integrated with ZOS for other machines in the customer data center.

Reviewing this item I want to reply to the comment: z14 already supports this. Every ZR1 model supports it. Mxx models support it at driver 36 (GA2 for Mxx).

Yes, internally we know the support is there simply by having the MCS_1 defined but we have not offered. or advertised this to our clients. Will IBM make a formal support statement on this?

Thank you for your recommendation. This request is very similar to Developerworks RFE ID 139654, so please watch for future updates via that request number.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - z Systems Hardware
    Product - z Systems Hardware
    Component - I/O and Networking

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - z Systems Hardware
    Product - z Systems Hardware
    Component - IOCP

z14 already supports this. Every ZR1 model supports it. Mxx models support it at driver 36 (GA2 for Mxx).

In IOCP, you need to define the MCS_1 partition in the last supported CSS (CSS 5 for Mxx and CSS 2 for ZR1) with MIFID A. You need to IML the machine with an IOCDS containing this partition. The partition will automatically be activated post-IML and then dynamic changes will be allowed provided you have a HCD level that supports ZR1 and the MCS_1 firmware partition.

Note that one (and only one) IML is necessary on z14 to enable future dynamic changes to a SACF.
