BPXF029E return codes for failed ROOT mount when ZFS is not initialized

Recently, we were supposed to remove/comment the FILESYSTYPE TYPE(HFS) statement in our BPXPRMxx, but instead we made the following mistake:

As you can see, the first FILESYSTYPE statement was changed to be ZFS, so we ended having two FILESYSTYPE TYPE(ZFS), and to make it worse the first one being processed had an invalid ENTRYPOINT and didn't have the ASNAME. As a result, when the system was IPLed the ROOT failed to mount with the following error:

IEF196I DDNAME=SYS00002

*BPXF029E ROOT FILE SYSTEM OMVS.VTBXR11.ROOT 736

WAS NOT MOUNTED. RETURN CODE = 00000098, REASON CODE = 00009801


Looking at the return and reason codes for message BPXF029E, they did not help us find our previous mistake, as confirmed with a support case as well.


Please assign proper return and reason codes for this scenario.

    Can you provide the case number for the issue mentioned? We'd like to get a better understanding of the failure so we can interpret it and see if we can provide better return and reason codes.
