Add parm to increase SORTIN and SORTOUT buffers to improve reading and writing throughput

DFSORT's ability to read and write SORTIN and SORTOUT files appears restricted enough to impact the throughput of both Standard files and Striped files. For SORTIN large Striped files can be read 4 times faster by OPTIONs COPY or EASYTRIEVE. CPU usage was also double for SORTIN as compared to OPTIONs COPY. IBM attributed this to record level tracing. Customer's own I/O traces showed very restrictive buffering (1/4 of OPTION COPY) for reads. SORTOUTs also require overbuffering to overcome write penalty attributed to PPRC. The requested feature would be two runtime options for DFSORT that would allow additional memory to be allocated for SORTIN or SORTOUT Ddnames up to a max additional memory of (2 MB for SORTIN and 3 MB for SORTOUT). The installation default should be 1MB for SORTIN and 1MB for SORTOUT.
In customer's test of SORT 29 GB of memory were allocated to sorting data while less than 1mb allocated to SORTIN and SORTOUT combined. Additional buffering of 1MB for Sortin and 2MB for Sortout would dramatically improve I/O times for 60% of the elapsed time of test SORT. For SORTs with INCLUDE (where most data is omitted due to INCLUDE criteria) elapsed could equal CPU time.

This item is a valid requirement but unlikely to be given high enough priority to be placed into the product plan since DFSORT now prefers using BSAM for reading from SORTIN and writing to SORTOUT.

Could someone update me on the implementation plans for this enhancement request?
