OMVS Shell Logging to SYSLOGD

IBM should provide the ability to log messages to the active OMVS/USS syslogd.

Currently logger, which is standard in UNIX for writing messages to syslogd, does not have this ability in z/OS but writes messages to the z/OS SYSLOG without an option to write to syslogd.

There should be a way for a script to write a message to the syslog.

    possible ways are

    echo 'message' > /dev/syslog

    writelog 'message'

anything that is easy and can be invoked within a script would be fine.

It is unclear what messages should be routed to syslogd.
Please be specific about which messages.
