Customers with low latency zIIP eligible work cannot rely on IIPHONORPRIORITY=YES to timely get help from standard CPs without ensuring that they have at least 1 Vertical High (VH) zIIP

    A solution using improved capacity planning and a change in the WLM service definition has been found to solve the underlying problem. Therefore the original plan for remediation will not be pursued.

    The solution will not change the way in which dispatching is done for the case of having zIIPs but no VH zIIP while having IIPHONORPRIORITY=YES. It is intended that z/OS will, however, provide a new health check that verifies that a LPAR with a zIIP has at least one Vertical High (VH) zIIP. If the HealthCheck raises an exception because there is no VH zIIP, a system programmer will be able to evaluate the risk and make an informed decision about how to proceed.
