Prevent sysplex outage in case of a loss of x-site DASD conn. affecting CFRM CDS's and x-site signaling conn. is maintained

When a system at site 2 first notices a loss of a CDS (primary, since that CDS is usually at site 1), it will broadcast a signal to other systems to initiate removal of the primary. The site 1 systems will dutifully do so but since all connectivity to the alternate CDS was also lost, the site 1 systems will go into a WAIT0A2 RSN009C (loss of both CFRM CDS) or RSN010 (loss of both Sysplex CDS) . If in the same timeframe, a site 1 system detects and broadcasts loss of a CFRM/Sysplex alternate CDS to site 2 systems, all site 2 systems will also go into a WAIT0A2 because of the double loss of both the pri/alt CDS. The timing of the notification of the loss of pri/alt CDS influences the survivability of the sysplex. It may affect only site 1 systems, only site 2 systems, or both depending on the timing of the broadcasting of the pri/alt CDS's losses.



Through this request for enhancement we ask that XCF CDS management better negotiate cross-site DASD connectivity losses when signaling connectivity is maintained. This may include awareness of CDS location and/or a weighting factor for number of systems with same-site connectivity to a particular CDS to negotiate survival between sites.
