Produce SMF 92 subtype 2 and 4 during backup of ZFS mounted in RWSHARE mode

During the dump process of a ZFS mounted in rw mode, a quiesce is done before the dump and an unquiesce is issued after the dump. SMF 92 subtype 2 is written when the filesytem is quiesced, and a subtype 4 is produced when it is unquiesced. This a...

zfsadm shrink should provide the ability to mount an unmounted zFS filesystem

zfsadm shrink requires too much manual intervention to be useful. It should provide the ability to mount an unmounted filesystem at a given mountpoint. This would benefit all stoage admins who may also want to release space on unmounted filesystem...

zfsadm shrink should support a wildcard for -aggregate

zfsadm shrink requires too much manual intervention to be useful. Processing only one filesystem is extremely tedious for sites with hundreds or thousands of zFS filesystems. Adding the capability to process multiple zFS's in one command will help...

Take advantage of DAE to suppress dumps

We encountered a situation where the zFS address space was taking 2C3 abends. The abend would sometimes occur more than once a day. DAE was not suppressing the dumps. Coding of the SDUMPX macro should be changed to take advantage of letting DAE su...

Allow zFS Salvager to Check ACLs while File System is Mounted

There is an undocumented option of the salvager: CHECK_ACL_CONSISTENCY=ON to check and repair a file system with ACL problems. This feature should be documented and at least the check for problems should be possible for a mounted file system.

zFS ACCESS Security

We ask z/OS Security Server to be enhanced to permit zFS to be easily protected, like HFS current protection running for the early life of HFS on z/OS.

Add mount option to perform ZFS file system integrity check at mount time

When coming up for the first time in DR, we have a request from one of our teams to be able to run a file system integrity check to look for any ZFS corruption.

Delay of zFS write with sync I/Os - z/OS 2.2

Applications are experiencing huge delays when zFS is performing a write with SYNC against large files, the frequency of SYNCs are low, and there are many concurrent tasks trying to perform operations on the same file.

IOEFSUTL format and other functions should identify the Version of the zFS formatted or changed

When formatting a zFS, IOEFSUTL does not identify what Version of zFS (currently V4 or V5) that it actually formatted. As seen in the Use Case in this requirement, lots of data about bytes and traces and details of the service level of the tool it...
