Make it easier to enabe FTP clients for AT-TLS, in environments that have a variety of FTP servers

For environments where z/OS FTP client users have to connect to a variety of different FTP servers - especially those that are managed by organizations outside of my enterprise - the need to change AT-TLS policy in order to protect the FTP connect...

Provide capability to capture hardware events for Coupling Facility problem diagnosis

When customers experience adverse performance results when moving workloads to a new IBM Z hardware architecture, for a z/OS operating system, the z/OS Hardware Instrumentation Service captures hardware event data into SMF type 113 records which a...

zERT - Allow filtering for cipher suites

Please add a filter criteria for CipherSuites, like 009D or C027. So it is a quick view over used certificates, and we could reduce our AT-TLS rules for longer unused ciphers. Alternative would be a filtering with multiple parts, like AES_CBC_128 ...

z/VM TCPIP utilities (PING FTP TELNET TRACERTE) use the first address returned from a DNS server. This may be an IPV6 address - if the originating system is only IPV4 the result is "EDC8118I Network is unreachable". This can be bypassed by using the ADDRTYPE arg but we would prefer smarter DNS lookup. z/OS and zLinux handle this without using ADDRTYPE.

Enhance RACF so that type 80s cut for CONNECT commands are consistent

RACF should be consistent about when it cuts type 80 records for CONNECT commands. That is not the case today. We always get them when the AUTH() parameter is specified even if the connection already exists. We do not get them if we issue this typ...

Intelligent tape devices should provide better mount information

In our modern times, most if not all tape mounts are now managed by intelligent devices, whether virtual tape systems or robotic systems. These external hardware devices are actually computer systems with hardware attached, and as such should be a...

IEBUPDTE Support for VB and LRECL > 80

This utility is limited to 80 bytes, but PDS/PDSE are not limited to 80 bytes, so we can not use it to add members to a PDS/PDSE that exceed the 80 byte limit. IEBUPDTE should support the limit of PDS/PDSE LRECL.IEBUPDTE should support RECFM=VB/VB...

Support creating PDSE V2 data sets in FTP Server SITE and Client LOCSITE command

Much to my chagrin, I found that I could not create a PDSE V2 data set using the available parameters in the SITE command, rather only a PDSE V1. I had to use the rather roundabout way of using DFDSS unload, FTP the unload file, then DFDSS reload.

Take advantage of DAE to suppress dumps

We encountered a situation where the zFS address space was taking 2C3 abends. The abend would sometimes occur more than once a day. DAE was not suppressing the dumps. Coding of the SDUMPX macro should be changed to take advantage of letting DAE su...
