Full ISPF Support for PDSE V2 Generations

ISPF needs to fully support PDSE V2 generations.

Currently ISPF Edit supports creating a new generation when a member is saved but none of the other ISPF services recognize a generation. Access to prior generations is not intuitive and thus effectively hidden to the average ISPF user. Using ISPF functions (e.g. LMCOPY) it is also possible to have the generations lost.

REF: "Enterprise Tech Journal", Issue 5, November, 2016, http://ourdigitalmags.com/publication/?i=359298#{"issue_id":359298,"numpages":1,"page":1}, pages 56-56, article "PDSE V2 Member Generations: A Technical Introspective", which discusses the PDSEGEN open source dialog that addresses the preponderance of shortfalls and opportunities afforded by the PDSEGEN solution - all of which should be considered for incorporation within the base ISPF PDF product and its APIs.

To clarify the need for services to support generations here are a few examples:

EDIT Dataset(xxx) GEN(nnn) should be supported in addition to the currently supported EDIT DATAID(xxx) GEN(nnn)

LMMLIST should return generations along with base members

LMMREN should rename all generations along with the base member

LMCOPY should allow copying generations along with the base.

Above all the integrity of the data should be foremost in all features.

Add support (e.g. pipe commands, multi-stream pipelines, built-in programs, etc.) for PDSE Member Generations in the CMS/TSO Pipelines Product (Ref: SL26-0018-06/Author's Edition).

Refer to IBM Developer Works RFE # 47699, "TSO/E: Implement Pipes Facility".

Additional comment by way of John Kalinich:

    1. Add generation to dsname and member name for browse/edit/view panels
    2. Allow GEN option for both ISPLINK and ISPEXEC invocations of browse/edit/view using the DATASET keyword
    3. Allow generation to be specified anywhere a member can be

The support should intuitive and pervasive within ISPF for PDSE V2 generation members. That includes the standard ISPF dialogs and all ISPF services, including library services and edit macros.

I would like to be able to use COMPare to compare to previous generations. Possibly specified as, e.g. COMP *-2 for the -2 generation.
