Cleanup of uncataloged data sets with DFDSMSdss

DESCRIPTION:
The Itau bank Storage support team sometimes needs to run a cleanup related to uncataloged data sets, this process consists of run a backup for the files first and after delete them from DASD to save disk space.
The current design of ADRDSSU has this limitation:

"Logical data set dump cannot be used to dump SMS data sets that are not cataloged or are cataloged outside the standard order of search."


The problem here at Itau is the amount of disks, we have a large installation and the main Bank sysplex has around 19000 disks, so we are requesting this RFE and we want from IBM to developer a function to locate uncataloged data sets through the STORAGE GROUP, the idea is to pass for the ADRDSSU the name of storage group and the pgm will find all uncataloged data sets based on the STORGRP.

So, using the Storage Group instead of informing each disk volume this cleanup process will be more easy to run.

    Why you would have a significant number of uncataloged datasets, particularly on SMS managed volumes? I would be trying to determine why it is happening in the first place and fix that first. E.g. make sure all the required Usercatalog Aliases exist and point to the same usercatalog on every member of the Sysplex.
