Integration of CHPID-Mapping-Tool-Logic into HCD

Today: IBM Z hardware configuration process is extremely clumsy, complex, error prone and time intensive. In addition the user needs to work with several non-integrated tools. This causes unnecessary effort in regular configuration tasks and adds additional complexity also in error situations (when the totally non-integrate process fails at some point, see PMR).

    Hi,

I'd like to add my two-cents worth to this, as it is also a MAJOR inhibitor for installing new hardware within my organization...
The current process requires the installation of the HCM GUI and the CHPID Mapping Tool on a local workstation. This activity is prohibited by policy within our company, as I'm sure it is with most others.
Given that the tools are updated whenever new hardware is released, there is a need to keep them current, so it's not a 'one-off' install.
The inability to install a workstation client results in the inability to install new mainframe hardware.

    Regards,
    Brian.

    .Hello Stephan,

many thanks for helping us to improve HCD. We understand the overall intention of your proposed requirement. This is a useful enhancement to HCD and we will move it to our requirement list.

    But be aware:
Since the content of our next release is already defined, we will move your request into our long-term queue.

    Hello Stephan,

    thank you for the requirement.
We realize that many people are interested in this (see RFE Votes and RFE User Watchlist).
We are still investigating and are in contact with the developers of the CHPID Mapping Tool.
There has been no decision yet.

    Kind regards,
    Your HCD Team
