ISPF LMMLIST and LMDLIST should provide discrete info on each member generation

Currently in 3.1 (based on what I learned at SHARE) LMMLIST and LMDLIST provide information on the base generation and then information on the number of generations saved the most recent absolute generation, and the max number of generations. This works unless a generation is deleted that isn't the most recent or the oldest. In that case there is a gap in the absolute generation numbers which means the only way to access the generations is using relative generations which is subject to change.

maybe the solution could be combined with https://ibm-z-hardware-and-operating-systems.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/ZOS-I-3783 which is: Provide common APIs in support of PDSE Member Generations

This Idea is being reopened and accepted as an uncommitted candidate.

However, if we address this Idea, it will probably not be by the suggested change to the LMMLIST/LMDLIST services. Instead, it would be through the provision of a "generation list" service that would complement the generation list panel we provided in z/OS 3.1. Such a service would probably have a parameter for the maximum number of generations to be returned, which would address the concern about datasets with a large number of generations.

The Idea submitter has indicated his acceptance of that direction.

After discussing this, the ISPF team believes this to be borderline impractical due to the difficulty of having to allow for the return of a list of absolute generations that could be in the thousands, or even hundreds of thousands.
