Incorporate Redbook "System Programmer's Guide to z/OS System Logger" into z/OS Sysplex Pu

The IBM Redbook "System Programmer's Guide to: z/OS System Logger", SG24-6898-01, dated July 2007, Second Edition, is unequivocally an unequalled treasure of information and technical content that is nowhere to be found in any of the three base z/OS sysplex publications: (1) MVS Sysplex Services Reference, (2) MVS Sysplex Services Guide, and (3) MVS Setting Up a Sysplex.

Sadly, the last update to this document was March 29,2012. Active new function z/OS releases, development, and continuous delivery have seriously outpaced the existing content. Moreover, there are technical errors, grammar, usage, and omissions that warrant an upgrade and face lift to the publication.

Loss of currency, content, and relevance due to lack of update would be a profound loss to the z/OS community - especially, the new system programmer charged with learning to configure a coupling facility to exploit system logger, using the administrative utility, and understanding the complex and expansively abstract concepts that comprise a System z parallel sysplex.

Therefore, this requirement requests IBM: (1) incorporate this publication within the base z/OS publication family and (2) update and maintain it in lockstep with biennial z/OS system releases, continuous delivery, and with the introduction of new function APARs and PTFs.
