This is the public portal for all IBM Z Hardware and Operating System related offerings. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

If the zCX image is upgrade with z/OS maintenance, there is a ++HOLD ACTION to do the zCX upgrade workflow to apply the changes done by the PTFs. Currently, this has to be done manually because of enforced manual steps in the workflow. In general, no changes are required in these manual steps. We've over 10 zCX instances, each with more or less Containers and Services running in there. The upgrade workflow takes at least 5mins per zCX instance. So about 1h is required each time we have to do the upgrade workflows.
We tried to automate this with Python and the z/OSMF REST Interface. Unfortunately we can't overcome the manual steps. For zCX OpenShift for example the provsioning workflow is completly automated.
The zCX "Classic" (Docker) Workflows (at least the upgrade workflow) should be reworked to make it possible to completly automate this procedure, so that no longer msg. "IZUWF5007E: The start workflow request failed because the first step "Retrieve IBM zCX appliance instance properties is not an automated step." is issued during the try to automate this.
